The Golden Hour. In photography, the “golden hour” is the first and last hour of sunlight of the day.

The Golden Hour is my favorite time of day here in the Pacific Northwest. I love how everything (and everyone) around me glows with warm colors and soft edges and we get a brief respite from the constant ocean breeze with some quiet, calm air.  We spent a lovely summer week on San Juan Island with my brother and his family and I had fun watching Ryan and his cousin Ava fish and explore in the evenings.

    Those photos are so pretty, and breathtaking and beautiful! I love the one of the fence and the big blue sky, and the house by the lake? I want to go there! I’ve heard of San Juan Island, never been there, but I would really like to go. So many beautiful places to go in this world…we are blessed!

    You have captured such beautiful photos of the golden hour of the day. One of my favorite types of photo is water reflections, and the blue of the sky against the white clouds is breathtaking. Cousins spending time together is special, and I really love the photo of the two of them walking down the path. But, Ava looks really cute peeking out while they fish.

    I am not much for the early golden hour, although I sometimes caught it over the river when I lived in Philly. When we lived in San Diego, the golden hour at the end of the day was the best time of day. We often spent that time watching the sun go down.

      Thanks Rob! Ava is quite a cutie and it is rare to see a photo of her sitting still. 🙂 I like the peeking one too for this reason!
      I don’t see very many sun rises either but love, love, love the evening.
