Oh my, I love Dahlia’s. I fell in love with those giant beauties when I visited Pike Place Market in Seattle about 10 years ago. I never see the giant ones here in NJ. Since the tubers cannot handle freezing temps, if we grow dahlias, we have to dig them up at the end of the growing season. I never had much luck with dahlias but his year my husband bought me a bag of tubers from Home Depot. We planted them in pots and they are stunning! We will just put the pots in storage in our dirt basement and bring them out again in the spring. Hopefully they will come back up again!
Love your red dahlias!
Thanks, I love Dahlia’s too, and Pike Place Market! Your tubers should be fine in the basement, as long as they don’t freeze or rot they are really hardy. 🙂
Lovely, lovely capture–you’ve captured the energy of the flower. Happy Phoneography Monday.
Thank you Sally, I’m really happy to hear you like this one!

I like the softened look to this.
I’m glad you like it this way. I couldn’t get everything sharp and in focus so I decided to just go with what was happening and soften things. 🙂
It works like deliberate bokeh. Not everything needs to be sharp as a tack.
I agree, variety is nice too.
I can’t believe you can take such amazingly beautiful photos with your phone. It’s an iPhone????
Yes, an iPhone 5 that I have had for a little over 1 yr. My biggest tip is to take a LOT of pictures so you have choices. 🙂
The color is so intense!!!
I know, what an amazing red!
IT REALLY IS!
Gorgeous!
Thanks Nancy. 🙂
very lovely, heady colours 🙂
Thanks, I’m glad you like them. 🙂
