For my final Black and White Tuesday of 2013 I have a photo from Seattle’s Pike Place Market and a view down Lower Post Alley. My post yesterday mentioned the Market’s infamous gum wall and this image is as close as I was willing to go… Believe it or not the pieces of used gum cover an area stretching 15 feet high and 50 feet long and in 2009 the wall was named one of the top five germiest attractions second to the Blarney Stone.
This is a great shot. I love the perspective and lines fading away into the distance! 🙂
Thank you, I am a big fan of your city shots and really appreciate your comments here!
I really enjoy your images, too. Keep sharing!
And the vintage brickwork. The whole setting nearly looks like a shot out of the 1920’s.
You’re right! One of the things I love about this area is that it would have still looked old in the 1920’s. This part of the alley is the starting point for a ghost tour that I really want to try soon…
Very cool photo! But . . . EEEWWWWWW!!!!
Thanks. 🙂 I agree wholeheartedly with the EEEWWW!
I know that alley! Nice shot.
Thanks Eric, I thought a few WordPressers might recognize it!
A very cool shot!
Thank you. 🙂
Wish I could get my black and white shots to look as good. Beautiful. Even with all that chewing gum!
Thanks Emilio! I took this one in color but changed it to black and white with Snapseed. 🙂
I will look into Snapseed. Thank you.
You’re welcome, it is my favorite app for processing. 🙂
The things that people will make traditions out of. Nasty chewing gum on a wall; imagine that!
Happy New Year!!!
Happy New Year to you as well!
Great photo and a very happy and blessed New year to you and yours.
Thank you Ruth, and I hope all the best for your New Year to you as well.
Lisa
I love the drama of the light and the texture of the gum wall. Sounds pretty nasty, but makes an interesting photo. Happy New Year!
Thanks Dena, nasty but interesting is a great combination of words for this place! Happy New Year!
Nice shot. Happy new year to you.
Thank you LD and a Happy New Year to you too. 🙂
Another reason to revisit Seattle, sort of… at least it can’t get stuck on anyone’s shoes! I look forward to hearing about the ghost tour, we might have to add that to our list.
Now I just have to convince someone to go with me. 🙂 I have a few ideas…
This is one wonderful shot. 🙂 Happy New Year 🙂
Thanks Archita, Happy New Year to You!
feliz año nuevo..!!
Thanks Rose. 🙂 Happy New Year to you too!
The gum wall is fascinating! I will add it on my list of things to see the next time I’m in Seattle!
I hope you get a chance to check it out, there is so much more to see under the market it almost needs a second visit. If you make it out to Seattle it would be fun to say hi!
Wish I had known you when I worked for the evil empire. I was there frequently.
That would have been fun but I’m guessing there wasn’t time for blogging during your evil empire days.
True dat, my friend. True dat.
I’m with you – I much prefer this!
Yes, it’s the best view!
Great shoot !
Thank you!
