Travel Theme: Wood

Wood

This huge beach log is one of the most photographed spots on our favorite Edmonds beach and of course I can’t help stopping several times a year to try capturing a new angle.  When the tide is out this section of the log is almost as high as my shoulder and the top is wide and flat, perfect for watching the sunset and balance walking.

Makes me wonder what stories this log could share if it had a WordPress blog?

I’m sure there are thousands. 🙂 Kids playing pretend, first dates, proposals – it’s seen a lot of life on the beach…

Driftwood on a Puget Sound shore. Who would have thought? 🙂 Interesting angle.

Do you have any idea how long the log has been on the beach? It sounds huge.

It’s been there for at least 10 years but now I want to ask if anyone knows for sure. It is so big, the storm that washed it in to shore must have been amazing.

Thanks for your comments Mick. This was the 7th day in a row of heavy fog and I was ready to give up on getting any pictures that weren’t completely gray. Then as I sat here the fog lifted and low afternoon sun came across the water.

Thanks Elisa! I like the different textures too and if the water was out farther I could have taken a shot looking the opposite direction. The roots make a shape that looks a lot like a heart. 🙂
