I’ve posted a lot of pretty spring flowers lately so for this weeks photo challenge I’m going in a slightly different direction… This is a close up view of a fascinating kinetic sculpture at the Pacific Science Center and I thought the chrome coils looked like heavy, industrial springs.
Posted as part of the Weekly Photo Challenge: Spring.
A very fun take on this theme!
I’m glad you like it, Naomi!
Wow, great photo – and great interpretation. 🙂
Thanks so much, Pat. 🙂
Really cool shot. Obviously an eye for an alternative perspective.
Thanks, JT. It’s funny because while I take and enjoy lots of traditional shots these weekly challenges tend to bring out my contrary side and I start looking for new ways to interpret them. 🙂
Love that you chose the literal interpretation for the photo challenge! This photo brought me to your blog, and I’ve had so much fun browsing through it. Great stories, wonderful photos! I’m a happy new follower 🙂
Thanks so much for such a nice comment and the follow! I’m happy to hear you’ve found some fun posts to read and and glad you like my take on this challenge. 🙂
Lisa
I like your shift in thinking!
Thanks for letting me know, Janice!
Great shot of spring. 🙂
Thanks Ruth. 🙂
Cool 🙂
Thanks. 🙂
Don’t know how you did it, but you took a picture of my brain.
Ha!
How awesome is that! Do the coils interact with the smaller gears to turn the hands on the clock?
Yes, everything interacts as it turns. 🙂
Excellent and original – I was going to do the challenge on this meaning of the word ‘spring’ but looks like you beat me to it. MM 🍀
Thanks, MM. I’m looking forward to seeing your choice for ‘spring’. 🙂
Great image for the challenge, Lisa. Very creative. 🙂
Thanks, Sylvia. I knew once I saw this piece that I wanted to use it for Spring but it was a good thing the gallery wasn’t very full because I stood there for a while trying to get a photo that worked. 🙂
Great! While everyone else is posting flowers… 🙂
Thanks, George. 🙂 I love a great shot of flowers too but felt like going in a different direction for this one. 😉
Awesome
Thank you.
You’ve captured the details of the sculpture!
Thanks, Amy! It was very tall but I tried to get everything at the top into the frame. 🙂
Haha, I was thinking along similar lines Lisa, but I don’t think I have any photos of ‘springs’! Now if only I had a shot of a hare springing up! I fear I’m resigned to the floral route 😦
Jude xx
A wild hare would be fun, Jude but your photos are always lovely and I’ll bet you have some beautiful flowers waiting for a new post. 🙂
very original industrial interpretation of this week’s prompt, Lisa 🙂 🙂
Thanks so much, Alexandra!
Lisa, excellent and quirky interpretation of spring and I like it! My take was seasonal but still a bit different from flowers. Enjoy the spring Sunday.
janet
I’m glad you like this one, Janet! Today it looks like my spring Sunday will be a wet one but that’s all part of the season. 🙂 Lisa
A+ for creativity!!!
Thanks, Tina!
Nice direction! 🙂
Thank you!
Awesome!!!!! Love it when someone takes a completely different direction. and they absolutely do look like springs. It’s a fantastic photo, all the more dramatic in B&W.
I’m glad you like it! The color version was nice but there were some bright red flowers outside the window that distracted from the springs so I decided to fix it with B&W. 🙂

I love this! I like to try and think a little outside the box when it comes to these photo challenges, but some times….Iike today…I’m just stumped, and I go with the flow 🙂 This is an awesome photo – you have a great talent!
What a nice comment, Becky! Thank you!
Wow! I really like your take on this one! Something completely different!
Thanks for letting me know! I tried to look outside the box a little. 😉
I hoped someone would interpret Spring this way! I LOVE it!
Great to hear, thanks!
