It’s time for Black and White photography at Lens and Pen by Sally’s weekly Phoneography and Non-SLR Digital Devices Photo Challenge and today I have a view from inside the courtyard of the Pacific Science Center. The four pavilions which house the traveling and permanent exhibits surround these shallow pools and at night they glow with light from underwater fixtures.
What a timeless and beautiful image of one of Seattle’s Midcentury icons! Love it!
Thanks, D’Arcy!
Wow! Stunning!
I’m glad you like it, Cindy!
Really nice!!!
Thanks, Angeline!
I love the light and lines. Really good entry hun 🙂
Thanks so much, Amanda. 🙂
Fantastic lines
Thanks, it’s great to hear you like it. 🙂
Love the shadows and how the pillars stand out in bright light. It’s so quiet there, I thought it would have been bustling with people.
You’re right, Mabel this is usually a busy place but I waited until there was a quiet moment to snap a photo. It was a rainy, cold afternoon and I think people were hiding inside instead of walking around the pools. Thanks for your comments today. 🙂
Lisa, well done–you’ve captured the effects of the architect’s deigns and given us a stroll through a stunning yet simple courtyard. Black and white give it another dimension. Happy Photo Challenge.
Thanks so much, Sally. The mid-century architecture of these Seattle Center buildings is so appealing to me and I’m glad you like them too.

I’m in awe, Lisa!!
What a nice thing to hear, Amy. Thanks!
you had me at architecture. 😉
Oh yes, I need to remember architecture + black and white make Nancy happy. 🙂
I’m a simple gal. 🙂
Lisa, that is a fantastic capture. The composition is so perfect. And i like that you chose a slight tinge of green? instead of just black/grey/white. It makes it so interesting.
Thanks for sharing your comments, Meghan! I’m glad you noticed this isn’t a true b&w image. I originally processed it in pure b&w but after I experimented a little more with Snapseed I thought my first choice was a little flat and liked the added intensity of this version.
Lisa, the B&W is the perfect way to showcase the shapes in this lovely phot.

Love love love the lines in this image, Lisa. Great shot and I love the way you composed everything. Great job! Love, Amy
Thanks so much, Amy! This was a larger image that I cropped to bring the focus away from other people and back to the architecture. It’s great to hear you like my choices!
Absolutely. You did a great job all the way around!!! xx
love the arches and love your angle for the shot – 🙂
Thank you. 🙂
