1 Day 1 World Project: 3:00 am – 4:00 am

I’ve been worried about this 3:00 am week since the beginning of the 1 Day 1 World Project and as of last Saturday didn’t have a single good idea for what to do but Mother Nature came to my rescue with the rare, simultaneous occurrence of a Super Moon and the Perseid Meteor Showers.  Of course I don’t have a camera that can really capture these nighttime events but thanks to the magic of the iPhone and Oggl here is my best shot.

Because Ryan refuses to be left out of any of these photo opportunities I set my alarm for 3:30 am Monday morning and with big travel mugs of  hot chocolate the three of us set out to find the moon and some meteors.  It was hard to get away from the city lights but we persevered until everyone saw a few shooting stars and I got one workable photo of the moon.  I hope you like it!

If you have a photo or story to share about your 3:00 am hour I’d love to see it.   Please tag your post 1 Day 1 World Project for easy reader searches and/or link your post in a comment below so we can all enjoy the view. Together we’ll build a virtual 24 hour day filled with images from around the world.

If you’re new to the 1 Day 1 World Project please take a look at my introductory post here.  This 3:00 am post will remain open for submissions until the end of Saturday, August 23rd and a new post for the 4:00 am hour will open for entries Sunday, August 24th.

Lucky you! We were clouded in all week. I’m willing to bet that was a memorable excursion 🙂

Joanne, we had a spectacular display of the Super Moon Saturday night – over the lake! Unfortunately my iPhone failed miserably in capturing the awesome display Mother Nature put on. 😦

I was actually able to get some great pictures (at least for me) of the super moon, but what was disappointing was the annual meteor showers.
Like Lisa, I had hoped to get out and see them one evening, but cloudy conditions killed that idea.

It was definitely memorable, Joanne. 🙂 We got lucky with the weather as every night after this one was cloudy and wet.

This is BROOLYANT, Lisa ! Words virtually fail.
Getting to the time when I can expect to be up (next week) …

Your super moon shot turned out better than ANY of the 20+ that I took Saturday night (or was it Sunday?, I can’t remember). Nicely done!

Thanks, Nancy! Actually the unprocessed shot is just a blurry blob in a black rectangle but a few minutes with Oggl on my phone added some interesting textures, colors and a border for the completed image. It definitely saved me this week. 🙂

I should learn to give my night time pics a chance before hitting the trash icon. Lesson learned!

Even with the camera by the bed and nightly disruptions I couldn’t manage to snap a picture the last two weeks. So instead I’ve shared a portion of a dream I had instead. It’s been really fun to see how many people were willing to give these middle of the night hours a try. When I started this project I wasn’t sure if anyone would join me for the midnight to 8 am portion but this great group is full of adventurers and each week taught me something new. 🙂
