iPhone Monday 11-3-14

Usually fall in the Pacific Northwest means cool nights, warm afternoons and plenty of fall color flashing against bright blue skies.   I hoped our beautiful summer would lead to another perfect season but this year has been anything but typical and now one of the wettest October’s on record has washed away the colors before I could get out and appreciate my favorite trees.  Last week this tree’s green canopy covered the corner of the Trader Joe’s parking lot but here we are, just a few days later and it’s almost bare.

Is it a silver birch or something similar? I love them too as they are so delicate. You have captured some beautiful light.

I’m not sure what kind of tree it is but agree the silvery bark looks like a birch. Thanks for your nice comment, Annette. 🙂

Sorry you missed out on the colours, but I love the light against the dark branches. It has a mellow creamy look which reminds me of a Japanese painting. 🙂

Lisa, I really like the stark quality; it foreshadows winter. The tree is a sweeping example of how we are simply observers of Mother Nature’s charming ways. Happy Photo Challenge.

Thanks so much, Sally. Looking up at this tree really was a foreshadowing moment for me, I can’t believe how fast it turned from summer to winter…

Throwing in a decent wind storm didn’t help any 🙂

It sure didn’t, Tony. More leaves are blowing across my yard right now…

It is going to be a wet bike ride home! But looks like it will be a tail wind

The color may have washed away too quickly, but this image absolutely captures the season this year. It’s so full of beauty and sadness…

Lisa, you point out a good reason to take a photo when you have the chance, as it may never look like that again (at least for another year.) I like the angle of your shot.

Thanks, Janet. I really wish I’d taken a few more shots this fall before everything blew away but I’ll know better next year. I’m glad you like the angle, it was my view through the windshield right after I parked the car. 🙂

What a gorgeous tree. I love the photos. Sometimes the seasons just seem to change overnight, don’t they! Your favorite tree will get a nice rest and be full and lush again next spring. 🙂

They sure do seem to change overnight, Debra. It’s certainly a reality check if we haven’t been paying enough attention to our surroundings. 🙂

Sounds like we were able to appreciate the beauty of autumn a littLe longer in central Ontario. However, rainfall was quite heavy for us too. Love the angle of your photo, beautiful shot.
