iPhoneography Challenge: Macro (Spring Trillium)

When we lost the large trees in our front yard I thought my favorite patch of shade loving trillium was finished but we carefully transplanted a few hardy specimens to the back side of our house and this little seedling is growing strong tucked away under a leafy rhododendron.

The slugs made a meal of our poor trillium this year. 😦 Hope yours has better luck!

Trillium are such lovely Spring surprises each and every year, so I’m glad that you were able to save these precious wildflowers. Hipstamatic is one of my favorite apps too. Happy Photo Challenge.

The trillium is the provincial flower of Ontario and seeing the forest carpeted with them when I was hiking the Bruce Trail was a real thrill. They are a beautiful harbinger of spring 🙂

A forest full of trillium would be wonderful to see, Joanne. I didn’t know they were the flower of Ontario! Our state flower is the Rhododendron. 🙂

Thanks, Janet! Sometimes I see new things in photos that I miss in the moment – like some of the new growth around the trillium. 🙂
