The fourth week of June was a fun one that began and ended with family time and was filled with what’s turning out to be a stretch of warmer than usual summer days. Since we don’t have air conditioning we’re doing what we can to keep cool and I’m using the high temperatures as an excuse to have plenty of cold brewed coffee and ice cream. 🙂
Sunday was Father’s Day and John, Ryan and I took a break in the middle of the afternoon for cold drinks and cookies at Walnut Street Coffee here in Edmonds. Monday was a beautiful June day and on our way home Ryan and I walked down Sunset Avenue to enjoy the view over Puget Sound. Tuesday’s image is a shot of the high school gym where Ryan sweated through his first four days of summer vacation as part of a wrestling camp that brought kids and coaches together from across the country to practice their skills and learn from world-class athletes.
Wednesday we made a stop for frozen yogurt before continuing home to our very hot house. I thought I could snap a quick photo of this pretty corner while it was quiet but this happy little girl ran right into the center of my frame and completed the shot. I love her excitement. 🙂 Thursday is a small corner of my favorite oak leaf hydrangea growing by our back deck and Friday’s photo is Jimi Hendrix’s shoe print and autograph as part of the Seattle Walk of Fame circling the Flagship Nordstrom store in Downtown Seattle. If you ever have the opportunity to walk around the store be sure to look down for a glimpse of some famous footprints from Seattle born leaders in the music, art, science, sports and philanthropic communities. By Saturday the heat finally got to me and I bought a tiny wading pool. Is it wrong that we spent over an hour trying to encourage Finn to jump in and cool off? We lured him with cheesy treats but two paws is as far as he would go. Maybe next time!
Each photo was taken with my iPhone 6 using Hipstamatic’s “shake to randomize” function then posted without any additional editing. If you like a particular combination and want to try it at home just click on the image to see the lens and filter used. For variety I continue to add new lenses and filters so if you want to try Hipstamatic but are unsure how to start let me know and I’ll do my best to answer your questions.
