A Surprise Every Day: Shaking Up November With Hipstamatic (week 4)

I’m still shaking my head at the fact that as I write this there are only a few hours left in the month of November.  Our wintry weather, family activities, busy work days and holiday decorations are all telling me the end of the year is almost here but I swear it we should just be wrapping up September not Christmas packages.

The steep learning curve involved in opening our new  Etsy shop means all of my spare time is spent at the computer so Sunday’s photo is a behind the scenes view of my listing manager page while I was writing item descriptions, uploading photos and calculating shipping charges for new items.  Monday is a larger than life Nutcracker I found walking through Seattle and Tuesday’s image is part of a dusty display case I noticed in the hallway by Ryan’s wrestling room.  Apparently his High School changed their mascot from the Chiefs (Chieftains) to the Mavericks in 1999.

Wednesday morning I stopped for a quick snap of a corner of our living room and Thursday I convinced Ryan to bundle up and take a chilly walk along the waterfront before we sat down for Thanksgiving dinner.   Friday night was the first time in 310 days I almost forgot to take a photo for this project… as you can see I cut it pretty close but the glowing numbers in our kitchen prove I had 32 minutes left to find an interesting subject to share for the day.  If you don’t typically click through to see these daily images in a larger format be sure to check out this particular one, the addition of the Spiro Gel affect added some fun details to the background.  Saturday morning found us back on the road driving to my parents house for a the first full-family Thanksgiving dinner we’ve shared in many years.  Yes it was a few days after the official holiday but I’ve always felt it’s the spirit of the holiday that counts and this year we came together to fill our childhood home with three generations of family, a few dogs and plenty of great food and wine.

Each photo was taken with my iPhone 6 using Hipstamatic’s “shake to randomize” function then posted without any additional editing. If you like a particular combination and want to try it at home just click on the image to see the lens, filter and flash used.  For variety I continue to add new lenses and filters so if you want to try Hipstamatic but are unsure how to start let me know and I’ll do my best to answer your questions.

I’m afraid to count… It really shouldn’t be too bad though. We’re trying to keep it simple this year. 🙂

Lisa, really like the first image. Reminds me of spring blossoms–Hipstamatic does it again. Nicely done.

Thanks so much, Sally. The first image combination is going in my favorites file so I can experiment with it more later. 🙂

Nice thing about it being December is that in 21 days time the days will start getting longer 🙂
    Love that last image!

Hey Lisa, I’ve been meaning to mention this to you, but ever since WP enforced the new reading formats I can’t click on the individual pictures to see them enlarged. I click on the photo but it leads to a page with just the description of the photo /name – but no picture. Only the collage with thumbnails is visible to me. It’s been this way for many weeks now. Maybe it’s my browser? I’m using Chrome. Just a heads up, since you recommended enlarging the Friday photo.

Thanks for telling me Nancy, I didn’t know this was happening. 😦 Do you usually view my posts through the reader? I haven’t clicked to see my own blog in the newest format but the galleries seem to work as planned when accessed directly through my web address. I’ll try to troubleshoot some more tomorrow and see if I can find a better explanation and/or a fix.

I just tried it directly on your site and all the pics opened up just fine. Normally I read your posts thru the Reader – and I’ve been unable to see the individual pics. Good to know I can see everything if I move to your site to view/read.

Thanks for trying again, Nancy. 🙂 I’ll let you know if I get any new info about the reader and galleries but my guess is with this new version they cut some functionality in order to make everything run faster on all platforms…

I can’t stand the new Reader, but it is the most efficient way for me to catch up if I’ve missed a few days of blog reading (the story of my life lately).

Lovely gallery, Lisa. I’m sure this month will also go by too quickly. Scary thought that before December is over, I will have been to England and back again. 😯
