My Year In Pictures: April Week 4

Published by

Looking at Ryan’s 1000 piece puzzle spread out on the desk is a lot like searching through my photo files filled with tiny images that tell the story of our lives.  It takes 1000 little pieces to show every known atom in the universe and at the end of this year I’ll have 1096 photos to mark key moments from the past three years.  A lot has changed in that time but plenty has stayed the same as well – just the way I like it. 🙂

The week started off cold, wet and gray but pretty green leaves brightened the view and kept the rain away when Finn and I took a walk.  Monday’s photo looks like a shiny silver rainbow in front of the library and Tuesday this baby narwhal rode with us in an elevator.

Wednesday and Thursday’s photos are of a clematis and strawberry patch in our backyard and  Friday night we took our monthly selfie for my other photo project (a family picture once a month).  Saturday afternoon Ryan and I enjoyed a few hours together working on his birthday puzzle.  I sorted through the box looking for edges and corners while Ryan told me everything he knows about each element in the photo.

Coming soon I’ve got a great set of new photos almost ready to share here from our latest spring adventures and if you’d like to follow along in real-time don’t forget I post my daily photos on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. If a once-a-week blog read is more your speed my weekly recaps will continue here along with caption notes containing editing information for each photo.

It sounded like an entertaining week, Lisa. 1,000 piece puzzle. I am sure that will keep Ryan company for a bit and at the same time test his knowledge on the periodic table. I love puzzles, especially the ones where there are a lot of pieces 😀 Send him best wishes for the puzzle to him 🙂

Tomorrow but I’m still in Poland. To confuse things further it’s an Algarve walk, Lisa. It’s scheduled and I only have my phone here so I’ ll be responding in the evening x

Aw, thanks so much, Alexandra! I’m really not comfortable taking my own pictures but realized in 10 years I’ll wish I still looked like this so why not capture the moment. 🙂

The monthly family selfie is a cool idea. Are you making them into a slide show?

So far I’ve done annual collages but now that we have more images a slide show would be fun too. Actually I heard a story on the news this morning about someone who combined several years of daily selfies into a long slide show and set them to music.

Nice family shot (you seldom catch me on the other side of a camera, either, but it is so true that 10 years from now I will think I used to be cute. 🙂
Love the library sculpture and the texture of your strawberry leaves!

Thanks so much, Lisa! That puzzle was tailor-made for Ryan…science is his favorite thing to read and talk about. 🙂

Well Ryan is my type of kid. I am a science nut myself. When I lived in NYC, I used to frequent ‘Science Cafes’. The best was when I saw Neil Degrasse Tyson speak about the physics of the movie the Matrix. He came out dressed as Morpheus.
