Wordless Wednesday: The Last Days of Daffodil Season

Wordless Wednesday 4-29

A Surprise Every Day: Shaking Up March With Hipstamatic (week 4)

I think any week that starts with a big party is bound to go well and this past one was no exception.  Our Sunday began in Bellingham with a beautiful lunch in honor of my mom’s birthday and ended with the discovery of these pretty, pink camellia blooms. I’ve been tending to this bush for 5 years now hoping it would bloom and even though it waited to flower until after a boundary dispute with our neighbors placed it on their side of the line I’m still happy with the results of the survey.   Monday’s photo is of Ryan’s wrestling team before their last regular season meet, he is third from the left in profile, and Tuesday’s photo is a pairing that always makes me laugh.  Seeing a Microsoft store next to a wine shop strikes me as funny (do you drink before or after the purchase?) and Hipstamatic’s random choices pushed it a bit farther by blending the two storefronts in the shop windows, mirroring the metal cut out of a woman shopping to look both ways then adding a new black frame to emphasize the connection.

Wednesday’s peanut shot is from our night out at 5 Guys Burgers and Thursday afternoon found me waiting for Ryan’s phone call and the news that he was off the bus and home from school.  Friday’s photo is a little misleading as it makes this part of our yard look like a green paradise.  Really this bed only blooms in the spring and looks like a dead zone for the remaining 9 months but we’ll enjoy it while we can.  Saturday found me trying to capture my favorite puffy white clouds in a blue sky but the random processing decided on dramatic sepia tones.  I like it anyway and will try for more traditional blue and white another time. 🙂

Each photo is straight from Hipstamatic’s “shake to randomize” function and posted without any additional editing. If you like a particular combination and want to try it at home just click on the image to see the lens and filter used.  I’ll be back next Sunday with 7 new photos and maybe even a few new favorites!
