Travel Theme: Still

Still

Alisa wrote a lovely post today about stillness and the origins of the word solstice as December 21st is almost here.  She explains the word comes from the Latin sol (sun) and sistere (to stand still) referring to the point at which the sun pauses on its seasonal path (as viewed from Earth) before reversing direction.  A night of stillness.

To illustrate “still” in the Pacific Northwest I have one more photo of the Arctic Rose.  My bench on the fishing pier was too far away to capture more than a silhouette but here is the boat on a quiet autumn evening heading out for a night on the water.

Thanks, 🙂 It was a surprisingly quiet evening at the waterfront for how warm it was.

The calm feeling of this days end is wonderful in your photo. Isn’t it incredible how the sea can evoke so many different moods, but stillness is certainly what I’m left with after looking at this post 🙂

Once again, you are right in tune with what I felt at the same moment. 🙂 Changing moods of the sea would make an interesting post…

Stillness is such a beautiful thing, especially in this day when so much seems to be movement and rush.
