For my final Black and White Tuesday of 2013 I have a photo from Seattle’s Pike Place Market and a view down Lower Post Alley. My post yesterday mentioned the Market’s infamous gum wall and this image is as close as I was willing to go… Believe it or not the pieces of used gum cover an area stretching 15 feet high and 50 feet long and in 2009 the wall was named one of the top five germiest attractions second to the Blarney Stone.
This is a great shot. I love the perspective and lines fading away into the distance! 🙂

And the vintage brickwork. The whole setting nearly looks like a shot out of the 1920’s.

You’re right! One of the things I love about this area is that it would have still looked old in the 1920’s. This part of the alley is the starting point for a ghost tour that I really want to try soon…

I love the drama of the light and the texture of the gum wall. Sounds pretty nasty, but makes an interesting photo. Happy New Year!

Another reason to revisit Seattle, sort of… at least it can’t get stuck on anyone’s shoes! I look forward to hearing about the ghost tour, we might have to add that to our list.

I hope you get a chance to check it out, there is so much more to see under the market it almost needs a second visit. If you make it out to Seattle it would be fun to say hi!

That would have been fun but I’m guessing there wasn’t time for blogging during your evil empire days.
