1 Day 1 World Project: 9:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Everyone in the Pacific Northwest jokes that summer doesn’t really start here until July 5th. Β We usually have one or two warm days in June surrounded by partly sunnyΒ days mixed with some rain and clouds but the real heat and sunshine doesn’t come out until mid July. Β This year our one early hot day happened to be July 1st Β and instead of spending our evening in front ofΒ the fans I thought we should pack up our dinner to go and take a picnic to the beach. Β Why stay inside looking for the fansΒ when we could be on the sand with cool ocean breezes andΒ natural air conditioning? Β The clouds rolled in just before sunset so I didn’t get a shot of a beautiful, pink sky but this photo does illustrate how nice it is during these long June and July nights when it is light until 10:00 pm.

Frequent readers might notice a few familiar things in this shot, there’s Ryan of course and he’s standing on the huge beach log I’ve photographed plenty of times, wearing his straw hat and yes,Β carrying a big stick…

We are nearing the end of my easy to photograph hours as I’m definitely not a night owl so it’s time to brainstorm some creative ways to get through the next few months. πŸ™‚ Β If you have a photo or story to share about your 9:00 pm hour I’d love to see it! Β  Please tag your post 1 Day 1 World Project for easy reader searches and/or link your post in a comment below so we can all enjoy the view. Together we’ll build a virtual 24 hour day filled with images from around the world.

If you’re new to the 1 Day 1 World Project please take a look at my introductory postΒ here. Β This 9:00 pm post will remain open for submissions until the end of Saturday, July 12thΒ and a new post for the 10:00 pm hour will open for entries Sunday, July 13th.

I will include a list of participant links below but please be patient during the second half of the week whileΒ we are away for some family vacation time without WiFi and little toΒ no cell coverage. Β Four whole days with nothing to do but relax, eat, hike and explore a new island!
