We’ve reached the daylight hours again, I’m feeling more like myself and Ryan is home from his late summer week with my parents. Put all these events together and it means another trip to the beach! This time John stayed home to get ready for an early morning at work but Ryan and I had our comfy clothes and morning beverages ready to go when the alarm went off at 5:30 am. It is still pretty dark at this early hour but by 5:55 am the sun cleared the eastern hills and light began to shine on the water. We spent the next half hour watching the light change while commuters boarded their ferries and trains knowing we could postpone our own morning activities for just a little while longer.
If you have a photo or story to share about your 5:00 am hour I’d love to see it! Please tag your post 1 Day 1 World Project for easy reader searches and/or link your post in a comment below so we can all enjoy the view. Together we’ll build a virtual 24 hour day filled with images from around the world.
If you’re new to the 1 Day 1 World Project please take a look at my introductory post here. This 5:00 am post will remain open for submissions until the end of Saturday, September 6th and a new post for the 6:00 am hour will open for entries Sunday, September 7th.

Lovely shot, Lisa ! Of course, it’s not as light as that here yet; but I think I can produce SOMETHING in the morning. 🙂
I’m glad you like it, M-R! I’m looking forward to seeing your morning view. 🙂
Is that your backyard? Good morning!
I wish it was our backyard, Bebs but we spend so much time here it might as well be!
Good morning and a trip to the beach is always a good celebration of the day light hours.
I agree, Ruth. 🙂
That would be a very gentle and zen-like way to start a day. Sounds perfect! Are you right on the ocean?
We aren’t right on the ocean, Joanne but if you stand on a chair and peek through the trees the water is visible from our deck. 🙂 This beach is just a few minutes away, down the hill.
What you are hearing now is the sound of my jealousy 🙂

5 a.m. is still too dark and early for us over here! ;P But how nice to catch the light at the beach! Here’s mine – http://weliveinaflat.com/blog/donna-worries-thunder-just-little/
I’m happy to still have a little light at this time of the morning but it won’t last, soon it will be dark until 7:30…
This picture looks like a painting, Lisa. Love the effect.
p.s. I did a Steve Ross yoga practice Friday. It nearly killed me. In a good way. 🙂
Thanks, Nancy. My original photo was still pretty grainy due to the low light so I thought a little editing/experimenting was in order. 🙂 I’m so glad you like Steve Ross! I’ve been enjoying Fitness Blender this week too. 🙂
What a lovely son you have, keeping you company through all of this, Lisa. That shot is wonderfully mysterious and I really like it. 🙂
He’s a great kid, Jo and I couldn’t ask for better company. 🙂 I’m glad you like our morning shot!

Welcome back!
What a great way to start the day Lisa! Looks like I have come back online just in time for an hour that I’m actually awake. Maggie is also a morning person (she does not think she is a dog). Hopefully our early morning walks will ptovide a cool picture this week. Patrick.
I’m looking forward to your early morning photos with Maggie, Patrick. 🙂

Nup, I couldn’t … :-\
I agree, getting a clear photo in the low light was next to impossible for me too… thanks for sharing what you have!
How beautiful there, Lisa! I’m slow this morning, This gorgeous view waked me up!
Wonderful to know, Amy! I hope the rest of you day is a good one. 🙂
Ooops woke !

I like your impressionistic beach. Thanks to a road trip we were up. Here’s the link:

I’m glad you like my beach shot and your road trip looks so peaceful and pretty at this time of the morning. 🙂
It was quite lovely. A few minutes later we had to pull over to fix a kayak that had slipped in the racks and I managed to get some wonderful Fraser Valley shots while my husband restrapped the boat. I will share those soon.
I’m looking forward to seeing them.

You got up on purpose… while I was just trying to get to bed. Took me two days to recover enough to even write about it! http://behindthewillows.com/2014/09/05/practice-makes-perfect/
What a night! I hope you’re feeling rested now. 🙂
It conveys the feeling of isolation and I like it.
It was an odd feeling to be alone on a beach that is usually full of people. Quiet and still at this early hour.
