Weekly Photo Challenge: Enveloped in the Marvelous

Published by

The life of our city is rich in poetic and marvelous subjects. We are enveloped and steeped as though in an atmosphere of the marvelous; but we do not notice it.
Charles Baudelaire

Enveloped

Our everyday lives are filled with marvelous moments just waiting to be acknowledged and the richest of us make it a daily practice to notice these gifts in our surroundings.  This little boy found his moment in front of a fountain while we found ours enjoying lunch outside on a beautiful spring day.

Love it! It’s such a great spot to spend some people watching time, and we found it by accident in 2011. It should be as well known as the Tivoli fountain in Rome,I think! (just checked my facts with Mr Google, and noticed there’s a Tivoli fountain in Olympia Wa….)

It’s so fun to think we’ve visited many of the same places even though we live on opposite sides of the world. 🙂 I’ll have to take a look at Olympia’s Tivoli fountain the next time I’m in the area…

Amazing shot, Lisa. He must have been very happy to cool off under that water. Having it all to himself too 😀

Thanks, Mabel. The area around the fountain was actually pretty busy but there was a quick moment when all the kids ran away from the water except for this one boy. Good thing I had my phone out, I didn’t want to miss it. 🙂

This is fantastic, Lisa. If I look at just the fountain and boy, it honestly looks like an oil painting. Beautiful!

I’m glad you like it, Nancy! I wish I kept a note about the lens/filter combination I used in Oggo for the effects… I’ll have to try again and see if I can remember. 🙂

Thanks, Allan. I like your “story” read of this photo and I’m pretty sure these kind of thoughts were bouncing around in his head in the moment. 🙂 Speaking of stories I’m hoping to post a new b&w photo in a few days for your guest host week with Paula…
