Another pretty week in the Pacific Northwest has come and gone but thanks to my random photo a day project I have some nice souvenirs to remember the season. Sunday afternoon was the perfect time to sit outside for lunch and believe it or not I didn’t plan to match my food and book to the table colors. Monday’s photo is of an old house that sits on Main street in the middle of our little commercial district. It’s spent the past few years as a collective office/work space for artists but recently sold after a long time on the market. I hope the new owners plans don’t include tearing anything down but the state of the gardens has me a little worried.
Late in the day Tuesday I realized I hadn’t taken a new photo and didn’t feel particularly inspired by anything in the house but Ryan’s advice was to look up and take a shot of whatever I saw. Well, now you know we haven’t changed the photos on our stairway light fixture since Christmas… Instead of feeling hopelessly behind I’ve decided we’re right on trend as several big internet retailers declared this week’s sales would be like Christmas in July. 🙂 Wednesday afternoon Ryan and walked along the beach and Thursday night I finished my walking day on this reflexology path outside Ryan’s Tae Kwan Do class. Friday our first anemones opened and Saturday’s image is of some of the beach glass we’ve collected over the past year.
Each photo was taken with my iPhone 6 using Hipstamatic’s “shake to randomize” function then posted without any additional editing. If you like a particular combination and want to try it at home just click on the image to see the lens and filter used. For variety I continue to add new lenses and filters so if you want to try Hipstamatic but are unsure how to start let me know and I’ll do my best to answer your questions.
I still have one little Christmas decoration up in the house too. We’ll see if you can spot it next weekend ;)!

Christmas in July? That’s what we’re feeling here in Australia – winter is here for us now and it has been unseasonally cold 😀 What a lovely beach shot, that blue sky and sunshine. I could use some of that now 🙂

That light fixture is awesome – even with christmas images in July! 🙂

Thanks, Nancy. 🙂 It’s a little more fun when the images match the season but oh well, at least we try!

I enjoyed your photos, Lisa. May as well leave the light fitting as it is, ready for next Christmas. It won’t be long now. 🙂

Thanks, Sylvia. 🙂 I know some people who are counting down the days in anticipation but I want to enjoy summer first… I just won’t look up until fall. 🙂

Lovely colourful breakfast table, Lisa, and I love the beach shot. That looks a good amount of sea glass too. Hope you have another lovely week 🙂

A lady was doing the same thing on a local beach, Lisa. I wondered if she had a purpose for them or just liked them for themselves. 🙂

Could be a little bit of both. 🙂

ah, I wish it were Christmas in July and a bit colder, as we are melting with almost 104 F these days… lovely way to remember each individual day of the week, Lisa 🙂

Being a old house owner, the one on main street is my favorite image but all are fantastic. Well done Lisa!

Beautiful photos, Lisa! I haven’t tried “shake to randomize” function. Is it a preset function?

Thanks, Amy! The “shake to randomize” function is found in your phone’s settings menu. If you scroll down to the app section and click on Hipstamatic you will see the button to activate the function. Then, when Hipstamatic is open on your phone give it a quick shake and it will select a random film/lens combination. The small window on the left that usually shows your selections will be black with the label “random” until you take a photo, then it will let you know what was used. It’s a lot of fun and a great way to discover new combinations. 🙂

I love this summer set! The processing on the old house immediately made me feel I was going back in time. The only thing giving it away is the new horizontal bath window on the second floor. Being a preservationist, I sure hope this lovely house survives. I, too, have Christmas snowflakes hanging from my living room arch. Too late to bother taking them down now! We are also beach glass scavengers. It’s getting rare with all the plastic these days.

Good catch noticing the new window, D’Arcy. 😀. I’ll watch the house and have my fingers crossed for an owner who is ready to continue the restoration. Nice to hear we aren’t the only ones who didn’t get Christmas put away… I guess beach glass is really the product of litter but at least it’s prettier than plastic trash on the beach. 🙂

What lovely summer photos, Lisa! And I definitely laughed at the still displayed Xmas decorations. Glad to see others are as behind as I am (or maybe we can say we’re now ahead of schedule!) Thanks for the info in Hipstamatic. I was unaware of that app and the shake to randomize function – a great, fun combination 🙂

Thanks so much for the visit and nice comments, Stacy! It sounds like we can start our own “early for Christmas” club here with those of us who never finished our winter cleaning. :). I hope you have fun experimenting with Hipstamatic, it’s one of my favorites!
