Each week Sue at A Word in Your Ear opens her dictionary to a new word, then challenges her readers to post a photo or write a short paragraph showing our take on the current choice – this week we have “sleep”. Well, I have lots of photos of sleeping kids, pets and even my husband, but when I started this blog I reassured my family I wouldn’t show their pictures without permission and I know I won’t hear a yes if I ask about sleeping snapshots. There have been plenty of sleeping pets posted that are much cuter than my choices so this leaves one last image in my archives.
This young Seal pup came ashore for some rest and relaxation in the sun and I couldn’t resist stopping for a quick picture. Don’t worry though, I didn’t get too close thanks to the Edmonds Seal Sitters, a fantastic group of volunteers in my community who have partnered with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and its Marine Mammal Stranding Network to protect these young pups and to educate interested visitors.
