A Word A Week: Sleep

Published by

on

Each week Sue at A Word in Your Ear opens her dictionary to a new word, then challenges her readers to post a photo or write a short paragraph showing our take on the current choice – this week we have “sleep”. Well, I have lots of photos of sleeping kids, pets and even my husband, but when I started this blog I reassured my family I wouldn’t show their pictures without permission and I know I won’t hear a yes if I ask about sleeping snapshots. There have been plenty of sleeping pets posted that are much cuter than my choices so this leaves one last image in my archives.

Edmonds - Seal Pup 2

This young Seal pup came ashore for some rest and relaxation in the sun and I couldn’t resist stopping for a quick picture. Don’t worry though, I didn’t get too close thanks to the Edmonds Seal Sitters, a fantastic group of volunteers in my community who have partnered with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and its Marine Mammal Stranding Network to protect these young pups and to educate interested visitors.

You should share it through a new video clip, I always enjoy listening to your music. 🙂

I loved the detail and composition in your photo; it is so engaging. You certainly met the photo challenge. I would be remiss if I did not say that one of my favorite things in the world is eating breakfast in downtown Edmonds and then boarding the ferry to Kingston.

Thanks Charlie, I’m glad you like this photo! Breakfast in Edmonds is definitely a treat and I love the ferry ride to Kingston too. I am going over to check out your page now. 🙂

I guessed this was your photo when I saw the PNW driftwood (whole trees don’t wash up on the beach in Australia, as a rule ), then I noticed the little seal asleep beside it. Lovely!

How fun that you could guess this was my photo. 🙂 I didn’t think about whole trees not being on the beaches in Australia but it makes sense now! Thanks for visiting today.
