For this challenge, capture two images — a horizontal and a vertical version — of the same scene or subject. There are no concrete “rules” here, but a) it should be evident that both shots are of the same place/location or person/thing, and b) your photographs should ideally have been taken during the same shoot.
I take a lot of my photos in both horizontal and vertical versions, waiting until I am home to decide which one is my favorite for each situation. I like both of these images as the top one comes closest to capturing the view that was right in front of us and I think the second really emphasizes the drop to the lake below. I’m happy I kept both!

Great view, and my favourite is the second… 🙂

Thanks Sue. 🙂 The second is my favorite photo too all by itself but I kept the first one because I like the reminder of the whole view. Today I’m glad I have both!

The view is near the top of the Mt. Baker Highway on the way to Artist’s Point in Washington State. I’m glad you like them!

I prefer the first shot because it shows the length of the mountain valley. One gets the sense of the length instead of the depth, which is the more popular and thus most expected image.

Thanks for your comments Mike, you noted exactly what I like about the first photo. It is the closest representation of what it really felt like to stand in front of this mountain and valley.
