Today is the third Monday of the month which means it’s time for January’s black and white week over at Lens and Pen by Sally’s Phoneography Challenge. I wasn’t sure what I was going to post today until I came across this small trillium photo from last spring. While I like the overall composition I’ve thought the fern fronds in the background were distracting and I wasn’t happy with the shades of green so it has sat quietly in the folder waiting for me to realize I should stop trying so hard and give it a chance in black and white.
First, trilliums are treasured wildflowers in my area. I have them in my woodland area along with Jack in the Pulpit. They’re delicate and lovely as your image shows. It’s a delight that way the flower pops in monochrome. Happy Phoneography Monday.

Love how it looks in B&W, Lisa. That sweet little blossom really pops out at you, doesn’t it? 🙂

Wow, how did you do that? What app did you use?

I used Snapseed to convert it to black and white. It’s my favorite app and the one I am the most comfortable with.

Is that free app?

I think so, but if they are charging a few dollars it is really worth it.

The trillium is our Provincial flower for Ontario, and it’s illegal to pick them back home. Great pic!

Great photo…isn’t it amazing how sometimes going back to a photo left sitting, and changing from color to black and white can make all the difference? The leaves are quite lovely.
