I usually post a new black and white photo every Tuesday but after spending the weekend surrounded by millions of tulips my head is full of bright, vibrant colors and I thought it would be fun to spend the week sharing a few of my favorite views from the 2014 Skagit Valley Tulip Festival.
This image above is from one of the beautiful display beds at the Roozengaarde Display Garden and Store and is the first of the week because I liked the contrast between the cheery tulips carefully lined up in front of the fence separating the farm from the wide open fields of the valley.
My 2013 gallery about the Tulip Festival is one of my 10 most viewed posts but if you missed it the first time a link is here. I’m happy to report this year the fields are dry!
Beautiful..! :O :O

So pretty! Our tulips just came up. And then promptly got squashed by our snowfall today…

I couldn’t believe the news this morning, so sorry about your snow! Our 2013 trip to these same fields was during an April snow storm. 😦

I took so many photos of tulips in Vancouver, Lisa. They don’t really grow here. They’re like little cups of happy. Lovely photo.

You were in my neck of the woods! My boyfriend’s mom lives right on one of the fields, though it’s out for rotation this year. On our first date he picked me a bouquet of them. I’ve never been one for tulips, but since moving to Skagit, I’ve found an appreciation for them. 🙂

What a fun story! Your boyfriend’s mom must have a fantastic view but I hope she is ok with all the tulip traffic. 🙂

Such a great shot! I love the foreground, midground, and background elements. I love the fantastically vibrant colours of the tulips. I love it all. Thanks for sharing this image this week. It’s a much needed sight after the dull grey spring we’ve had so far.

Thanks Shane, what a nice comment to read this morning! Our weather is turning to grey again too but at least the spring bulbs and rhododendrons had enough sun to open last week and are adding some color to the mist and rain. 🙂

Mine have finally sprouted, but haven’t shot all the way up or opened. Which is a good thing, because I woke up to snow yesterday. 😦

I can’t believe your weather has been so awful. 😦 Tulips are open and pretty here but not in my yard, the squirrels have successfully eaten 100% of my bulbs… I don’t plant them anymore!
