A few days ago I posted a view from our way up the Klahhane Ridge Switchback Trail and today I’ll share our turning around point.  It’s a beautiful hike but this was far enough for me!

To get to the summit, would you have to rock climb? (I love the picture, but it just makes me want to hike this. Hence, the technical question.)

Yes, I think you could climb up from here but for the hardy hikers and backpack campers the trail continues along the ridge to the right of the photo for many more miles. We chose the day hike option at 12.5 miles round trip so this was our turn around point. If you ever want to hike it just let me know, we’ll make some plans. 🙂

Beautiful! …And now I’m itching to go climb a mountain. Sadly, there aren’t many in the greater Toronto area. 😦

At this point I’m looking at maybe one more trip to NYC for work, maybe w/o Sep 8th and then heading to Charleston for the weekend adventure (courtesy of my To Live Forever contest win) on Fri Sept 12. After that we’re a bit up in the air at the moment. Ed’s bday (the BIG one) is coming up Oct 2nd. I had been planning a trip to Peru to hike to Machu Picchu – but with the renos and planned house listing – we may need to push that back. I’m sure I’ll get back to Vegas by late Sept regardless.
We should really get serious about planning that girls’ weekend. I’ll talk to Andra about it when I see her that weekend in SC.

You’ve got a busy but fun fall ahead, Nancy, I can’t wait to hear about your adventures with Andra in Charleston! Machu Picchu should certainly provide a lifetime of mountain air, what a way to celebrate Ed’s birthday. 🙂 John’s big B’day is Sept. 7th and I’m making plans now but we’ll be a little closer to home. 🙂 I’m up for a weekend get-a-way when ever it works!

I can see that it would be quite a climb. It’s beautiful even in B&W, but the way you portrayed it give it a bit of a gritty feeling, too, (which is perhaps how you felt by the time you finished!)

Massive.
Reaaly good shot. It’s not easy to get a shot of a mountain that conveys even the slightest bit of what you see and feel when actually there before it.

Massive is a good word to describe this place. I’ve been disappointed so many times by mountain shots that feel wimpy compared to the real life experience but was happy to see some of this day’s view came through in the image.

The Ridge looks dramatic in B&W. Top notch composition and contrasts!

Thanks and this ridge is the same one shown in the background of my Endurance photo behind the sign for the Hurricane Lodge, Hurricane Road hikes. 🙂 I always like to take multiple photos of a location and then find different ways to show them later.
