A few weeks ago our local beach was covered by a combination of slippery seaweed and clear jellyfish. Every step we took carried the potential for an unpleasant fall but I’m happy to report we returned unharmed and I have this photo to share as part of Lens and Pen by Sally’s Phoneography and Non-SLR Digital Photo Challenge: Macro.
dang unless you are watching where you are going, it’s easy to accidentally step on these.

Definitely eye catching for sure though 🙂

Thanks, Andy. 🙂 They were pretty but yeah, not fun if you squish one…

Reminds me of some experiment that went amuck in my high school biology course! But interesting nonetheless! I like it!

Smart girl! You are not the one to take a clumsy fall 😉 I always love watching your nature abstracts (they do have an abstract quality for me). Beautiful captures, Lisa!

Thank you, Paula and I’m glad you see the abstract qualities too. 🙂 High praise indeed coming from someone as talented as you!

I would have never guessed that was a jellyfish and seaweed. The entire composition seems to show a replica of the earth. Very celestial in its appearance. Happy Photo Challenge.

Thanks so much, Sally. The grains of sand reminded me of stars too. 🙂

Great image Lisa, but I’d hate to step on one of these creatures. 😯

Yes, they feel pretty icky if squished between your toes. 😦 No sting though…

I thought it was something edible – like a salad.

I’m sure someone could eat the greens but they’re not for me…I’d rather take a photo. 🙂

Good thing you didn’t step on any of those jellyfish. OUCH! 🙂

Wow! I use Feedly to read all my blogs, when this came up tonight as a thumbnail on your feed I was trying to figure out how you got a picture from space with your iphone! Pretty neat!

I’m glad you like it! Isn’t it interesting how things from the sea can look like they might really be from space…

Great shot and we have not seen any jelly fish or star fish in the surf or on the beaches for a long time.

It seems like some days the beaches are full of them but then it can be weeks before another sighting. Maybe I should look it up…
