Some of you might recognize this canna from a mid-summer black and white photo challenge but I couldn’t resist going back for a new angle to take part in Lens and Pen by Sally’s weekly phoneography challenge: Macro.

Thanks, Rusha! It was the color that caught my attention first, then I tried to find an interesting angle for the photo. 🙂

Marvelous macro, showing the eloquence of the leaves with their lines and shapes. Then there is that small point of new growth that spirits the image. Happy Photo Challenge.

I love B/W but I prefer this bold colour exploration.
In clicking the link to compare your different renditions, this one makes me imagine that I can actually smell the plant, and re-familiarize myself with the waxy texture combined with the feel of the slick liquid water beads resting just on the surface.
A tropical setting it may not actually be but I’m given a sens e of that too. I instantly imagine that I feel the soothing warmth of sunlight all around me, and that’s what I really want to feel as I move into the oncoming winter a little over a month away.

Thanks for such a wonderful comment, Allan. I prefer the color version too and while we are in the middle of arctic air blowing in from the Fraser river valley it’s nice to hear you felt a little reminder of summer warmth and light. 🙂
