If you’ve been reading my Shades of Blue posts from the beginning you might notice I’ve skipped ahead a little from late summer but we’re hours away from Halloween and some pictures really need to be shared in the moment.
John thinks/dreams/plans for Halloween year round and by mid-summer he starts gathering materials and planning each room. Even though everything looks best at night lit only by candles and a few carefully placed spot lights I try to take plenty of photos and share them here for everyone to enjoy!
I love the octopus.

It’s one of John’s favorite things too, Jim. 🙂

John has done a great job. The rooms look moody and spooky. That spot beside the fireplace alongside the pumpkin looks very cozy 🙂 Maybe you will get a few trick or treaters coming your way, and Ryan can go out and collect his stash of sweets. Never too old for that 😀 Here in Australia Halloween isn’t that big but the shops hype it all up and chocolate goes on sale. I have stockpiled some sweets 😀

You and I think alike, Mabel… Halloween means it’s time for sweets and chocolate! 🙂 We’ll get a few trick or treaters and then can enjoy the rest of the candy over the next week or so. 🙂 Glad you like John’s decorations!

Wow, he does great work! I don’t really care about Halloween that much, especially as the girls are grown up and gone, but we’ll sit outside tonight (wrapped to the teeth against the cold) and give out candy and enjoy the costumes (if we can see them.) Happy Halloween!

Thanks, Lisa. It’s going to be cold tonight, so we’ll have to really bundle up. Too bad I don’t know how to make hot toddies. 🙂

A hot toddy recipe should only be a few clicks away… 😉 Maybe some warm spiced apple cider with a little kick? 🙂

Mmmmm. We’ve decided that with the bushes trimmed, people can see our light, allowing us to stay inside, although we leave the inside door open and the storm door closed, which allows people to see that we’re here.

Fantastic! I do so little and yet always admire friends who go all out! John creates a truly wonderful and completely spooky experience! I think I’d have trouble sleeping in your house. LOL! I’m late to see this, but I hope your Halloween was very fun, and it surely must have been.

John has so much fun, it’s great to see, Debra. Fortunately I’ve talked him out of the really spooky things… sleep is ok here. 🙂 We had a party Saturday night for Ryan’s friends and a happy/relaxing time on Halloween. I hope yours was fun too!
