If you saw my iPhone Monday and Wordless Wednesday posts last week you’ll know I spent last Sunday evening with my parents watching Emmylou Harris perform at Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery in Woodinville, WA. The winery grounds are beautiful and behind the main tasting building is a natural amphitheater with a large, grass-covered hill for picnics and a small flat space up front for reserved chairs. We were lucky enough to have seats in the first few rows but really any spot around the amphitheater is a good one. You can pack in your own food for picnics or buy a meal at the gourmet food trucks that line the south side of the lawn and of course, wine is everywhere. Sharp eyes might notice that my Wordless Wednesday wine photo was of a bottle of white, which we enjoyed with Indian Kebabs and salad before moving on to red for the show. 🙂
A look at the top of the stage between sets.

Would love to attend something like that but in Singapore it’s always too hot and sweaty even in the evenings!

I don’t blame you for wanting to avoid hot and sweaty! This evening was the perfect blend of clear skies and moderate temperatures. 🙂

Seems like there is a lot of outdoor music going on around the world at the moment! I guess I ought to be at Glastonbury to grab some late night shots this weekend, but alas I am too old to enjoy that number of people packed together, not to mention the toilets.. OK, I won’t mention the toilets. 😉 Much nicer to view it from my armchair with a nice glass of the red stuff.
My 8-9 pm shot is local once again, enjoy! http://wp.me/pL5Ms-1Gx

Yes, it’s the outdoor festival season in both our areas. 🙂 I’m with you though, crowded events are not my kind of thing. I much prefer a quiet place with space or my comfy corner of the couch. 🙂

A few years ago I saw a documentary about Gram Parsons in which Emmylou Harris spoke very eloquently about him. A moving film that I unfortunately have forgotten the title of.
Here’s mine, it seems as though I’m stuck on a theme lately:

I love Emmylou Harris and amphitheater concerts! The winery sounds like a tremendous venue. I know I’d love this. We have Hollywood Bowl tickets for later this summer and that’s my outdoor concert connection. But it is so large we are never as close to the artists as you appear to have been. 🙂 Lovely!
