We finished our hike out to Second Beach in Olympic National Park just in time for low tide and easy access to some beautiful tide pools.

These are anemones, Elizz and this bunch was definitely alive. 🙂 When we were little kids it was fun to poke them in the middle and watch sea water spray out in an arc. 🙂

can it survive out of water? but i hope they could make it til the next high tide..

They can make it a little while before drying out so the time between high tides is usually just fine and it gives us a chance to see them from a great point of view.

Great anemones. I’ve never seen such mint green ones before. They look to be quite a good size.

They were pretty big, Deb everywhere I turned this pretty shade of green was poking out from tide pools and under rocks. It was so pretty. 🙂

They almost look like Polynesian water oysters. I was straining to see if there was a pearl inside one. 🙂

Pearls would have made for a really exciting trip to the beach, Eric. 😉

Beautiful image! What are those green things?

Thanks, Kan! The green things are little sea creatures called anemone. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes and can be found in tide pools and growing on rocks.

Since I don’t live anywhere near the ocean, I’ve never had a chance to see the before and after of tides. How cool!

These things are really weird looking. I found a lot of them in the tide pools on a beach I found on the way to Kalaloch. Hard to find ones that didn’t have sand in.

I agree, they are weird looking. 🙂 I hope you enjoyed your visit to Klaloch, this photo is from Second Beach just a little north of where you were.

Second beach is a lot of fun. I was looking for new places to photograph and was pointed here. Looking forward to being back in the Pacific Northwest next year to continue my exploration.
